I’ve enjoyed this little blog, but it is time to kick it up a notch! Check me out here:

If you missed the mini day you still have a few weeks left to book with the bunnies! I never could have imagined how entertaining these sessions would be. The outtakes are priceless.

Several months ago I recieved a call from the mother of one of my seniors asking me to take a studio head shot. I was caught off gaurd. I had never anticipated or prepared for this. I couldn’t do it.

I had to refer the client elsewhere.. and that did NOT feel good.

I knew then that this was a branch of Photography I was going to have to walk out on(Branch- “walk out on a limb”- hope you’re following this complex metaphor).

Well.. Here it goes- Shelby Hurst Photography now has a functional Portrait Studio. Although, I will still remain primarily an outdoor and natural light photographer, I now have an indoor option! Thanks to a friend and fellow photographer, Pam McClure, I was able to shoot indoor studio photos today. I’m new, a little gun shy, and have a lot to learn but, I know it will be worth it. I want to be a photographer that can cover all of the bases for my clients and this is going to help me reach that goal.

I shot some Easter photos of a gorgeous baby girl with Pam’s help(Thank you, thank you, thank you) and they are now safe on my hard drive. After the shoot I decided I needed some more practice. The shoot went well but, I wanted to take a try without my safety net.

That’s when Karlee came over to check out my new studio/apartment. After this shoot I felt so much better about myself and my new set up. Thanks Kar!

Not only did Karlee model like a pro.. She also gave me some great color inspiration for the studio! The store front is orange(like the chair), the floor is black, and I’m really liking how they look with that blue-green.

One of the many things on this weekends to-do list is getting some of my things over to my new Apartment!!!! It is downtown and it is going to be my studio/store front and double as my apartment. It will be pretty bare for a while but there WILL be a grand opening when it is ready. Right now it is just a big empty space waiting for me to fill it up! I’M SO EXCITED.

Oh man. We could NOT stop laughing during this shoot. Between the wind, watery eyes, and rap/dance sessions I think we got some awesome shots. Taycee, Hannah, and I had a good time. Even with 50 mph winds Taycee kept on smiling haha!

Had a great time with Gab and her mom running around the streets of the Paseo District! She was a great sport running in and out of little shops to change and buying new pieces of her wardrobe as we went. These ladies know how to shop haha!

Took Jase out to play with the camera and enjoy the spring weather. All he could talk about was trying to get on one of the boats. We are definitely ready for summer.

I love these two! Their wedding was this past December and I was so happy to have Mackenzie call me and set up a “Day After Shoot.” This shoot obviously doesnt have to be the day after- it’s any day that you want to take beautiful outdoor pictures in the dress with the new husband. I’m not going to give up on pressing this! Brides- you all need one haha! Here are a couple of my favorites from a week ago. Black and white is always fun.

Chancen proposed to Mackenzie at the lighthouse on Lake Hefner so shooting there was perfect.

Taycee, Hannah, and I had a great time on this shoot. This was officially my first time to rap and dance for the perfect smile haha!

I will be doing outdoor Easter mini Sessions on April 2nd with rabbits and baby chickens! This was a suggestion from a friend and fellow photographer, Pam! These sessions will last 30 minutes each. The sitting fee is only $50 and includes an 8×10 and 2 5×7 prints of your favorite photos! Other prints can be ordered within the following week! Email ShelbyHurstPhotography@yahoo.com to book your session now!
